American Business Has Rallied Together To Help Out India For Fighting Covid

Numerous American business has shown their solidarity and have stepped up and joined the fight with India against the pandemic crisis. Several CEOs and the US Chamber of Commerce from more than 40 companies have set up the Global Task Force on Pandemic Response: Mobilizing for India which is a US public-private partnership. It will provide India with numerous critical medical supplies, oxygen, vaccines, and other life-saving assistance during the surge in coronavirus cases.

The partnership is backed by the US-India Strategic Forum, the Business Roundtable, and the Chamber’s US-India Business Council. The announcement came as a part of the US Chamber of Commerce that hosted a meeting with the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and also the deputy assistant to the president and the coordinator for Indo-Pacific Affairs, Kurt Campbell.

Suzanne Clarke, the president and CEO of the US Chamber of Commerce has said that they are witnessing those things in India which is a stark reminder while the United States was pushed to a corner to combat the pandemic. A staggering health crisis is faced by India and other global partners of the USA. She also pointed out that the present crisis requires a substantial public and private response. A global response is required for a global crisis and the business community of America is in the best position. They are very much determined to lead the way.

Resources have been developed by the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation for the covid-19 crisis in India. This also includes a portal that can be used by American companies for offering in-kind donations.

Tim Cook, the Apple CEO has said that the company is going to donate for supporting the relief efforts that are happening on the ground. Cook also went on to write that amidst the devastating rise in the number of Covid cases in India, their thoughts will lie with the medical workers, the Apple family and everyone who has been fighting through this awful stage of the pandemic. Apple is going to donate to support the relief efforts on the ground. Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella on Monday has spoken about the initiative that their respective companies are going to take in India.

It has been said by Amazon India that it has procured 100 ventilators through its global resources and they are looking to immediately import this to India. For these units, Amazon will work closely with Medtronic for these particular units that are to be airlifted to India and it is expected that the consignments are going to enter the country in an upcoming couple of weeks. The country head and global SVP of Amazon of India, Amit Agarwal has said that they are putting in more efforts and are very much committed to supporting India in their fight against Covid-19.

A $10 million commitment is made by Mastercard to address the covid issue in India.
